What is engineering?

Engineering is the study of inventing, innovating, designing, building and improving structures as well as materials and tools by using the theoretical and practical knowledge, along with the application of mathematics and scientific and economic facts. Engineers research each design choice based on their benefits and drawbacks and then choose the solution that best apt the requirements. The crucial task of the engineer is to recognize, comprehend, and explicate the constraints on a design in order to earn a successful result.

Engineering branches to extremely broad and specialized fields, each which provides thorough research with a more specific significance on particular areas of applied science, technology and varying types of application. In the past, engineering were mainly branched into four majors: mechanical, chemical, civil and electrical, with sub-branches of each fields. Today, however, the numbers of engineering degrees that avail have increased in an impressive manner due to advances in technology.

Engineering courses usually last up to 4 years, (with the exception of architecture), leading to the degrees of BA (with Honours) and MEng.
