As the first full-time regular university in Dongguan, Dongguan University of Technology (DGUT) was initially bred in 1990 and coming into birth in 1992, which proudly has Dr. Chenning Yang, a Nobel Laureate in Physics, as the Honorary President. Under the authorization of the Ministry of Education, DGUT enrolled her first undergraduates in 2002 and awarded her first bachelor degrees four years later in 2006. In 2003, DGUT moved into the national High-tech Park of Songshan Lake, which expands DGUT into two campuses nowadays: Guancheng Campus (Downtown) and Songshan Lake Campus. In 2010, DGUT was listed into the initial institutions for national “Outstanding Engineers Cultivation Project” and meanwhile was approved by Guangdong provincial government, as a preparatory institute for master degree-awarding. Furthermore, DGUT has incubated an independent college: City College of Dongguan University of Technology (CCDGUT) in 2004.
With years of exploration, the university has probed her approaches to the innovative, unique and quality-oriented education concept, as well as a scientific management system, and will strive to build herself into a distinctive, application-oriented and high-level local university.
