Chinese Government Scholarship

Beijing Forestry University is a designated institution entitled to admit students under Chinese Government Scholarship by Ministry of Education of China. Applications for Chinese Government Scholarships are accepted from now on and applicants for Master Degree Program and Doctoral Degree Program can apply for Chinese Government Scholarship directly to Beijing Forestry University. It is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports graduate students.

I Supporting Categories, Duration and Instruction Language


1. Supporting Category. This scholarship only supports graduate students.

2. Duration. This scholarship only supports master’s students for no more than 3 academic years or doctoral students for no more than 4 academic years. The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language/preparatory study, as specified in the Admission Letter.

3. Instruction Language

II Scholarship Coverage

The Chinese University Program provides a full scholarship which covers tuition waiver, accommodation, stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance. III Where and When to Apply


Where to Apply :

Apply to the designated Chinese universities undertaking this program.

When to Apply :

You need to apply between early January and early April. Please consult the Chinese universities for the specific deadline of each year.

IV Eligibility


1. Applicants must be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health

2. The requirements for applicants’ degree and age are that applicants must:

be a bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master’s programs;

be a master’s degree holder under the age of 40 when applying for the doctoral programs


V Application Procedure


Step 1 - Apply directly to your target university.

Step 2 - Complete the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students (Visit http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org and click “Application Online” to log in), submit online the completed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship and print a hard copy. Please consult your target university for the Instructions of the CSC Online Application System for International Students and Agency Number.

Step 3 - Submit all your application documents to your target university before the deadline.

Only applications of recommended candidates from designated Chinese universities will be considered by CSC


VI Application Documents (in duplicate)

1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (written in Chinese or English);

2. Notarized highest diploma;

Prospective diploma recipients must submit official document issued by your current school to prove your current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

3. Academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

4. A Study Plan or Research Proposal (written in Chinese or English);

This should be a minimum of 800 words.

5. Two Recommendation Letters (written in Chinese or English);

Applicants must submit two recommendation letters signed by a professor or an associate professor.

6. A CD of your own works (only required for arts students);

Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of their own musical works. Applicants for the fine arts programs must submit a CD of their own works which include two sketches, two color paintings and two other works.

7. Foreigner Physical Examination Form (photocopy) (written in English, can be downloaded from http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org);

The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please carefully plan your physical examination schedule as the result is valid for only 6 months.

8. The copy of valid HSK Certificate (if available).

All documents should be bound together on top left corner in the order of 6.1 to 6.8. (You should submit TWO sets of bound documents). No application documents will be returned. 





Beijing Government Scholarship

The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS) is established by Beijing Municipal Government in order to encourage excellent foreign students and scholars to study and research in Beijing. This endeavor contributes to promoting the internationalization of the city’s higher education. The BGS scholarship is used to sponsor those international students who are currently applying for admission or who have been pursuing degrees in BFU.

The assessment committee comprises of the President of BFU, and its Educational Administration, Postgraduate Office, departments and International Student Office. International Student Office is mainly responsible for the acceptance and administration of scholarship. According to Open, Fair and Impartial principles, BFU is authorized to evaluate scholarship qualifications and make effective use of the funds.

 Eligibility

 1) Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health;

2) Applicants who have received any other type of bursary are not eligible for the scholarship;

3) Applicants must be undergraduates and postgraduates currently studying in BFU;

 4) Applicants are required to register, and apply for a visa/residence permit in time;

5) Applicants are required to pass all compulsory courses. They are allowed to apply scholarship again after retaking and passing the failed course;

 6) Applicants have NO improper conduct, NO violations of school or dormitory rules, and NO negative effects to the society, school and others;

7) Applicants receive NO department-level disciplinary action or above;

 8) Applicants abide by the laws and decrees of Chinese government and do not get “warnings” or even more serious punishment(s) from law enforcement departments.

Values of Scholarship:The winners of BGS are exempt from full or partial tuition for the specific academic year.

2) Personal statement

3) Essay about studying and living experience during school time (Printed and electronic versions)

4) School transcripts(Not for new students)

5) Materials regarding the participation in the curricular and extracurricular activities

Assessment Criteria:

 1) New students: Excellent entry examination scores and hard study;

2) Current students at university: A good academic record and merits, punctual registration and hard study;

3) Undergraduate: Ranking and selection process according to grade point average

4) Postgraduate: Good grades for examinations, and strong capabilities in science and innovation

5) Positive participation in social activities inside and outside the university

APFNet Scholarship Program


 

Program  description

Students are required  to complete the courses within two years, submit a dissertation on the chosen  field of the Master’s degree and defend it in front of a panel of experts.  Graduates will receive a Graduation Certificate along with the Master’s  Diploma.

 

Fields of  study

- Forestry Economics  and Management

 

Ÿ   Curriculum and Credit Requirement

Students must get 27 credits required for the  degree, including 23 credits for basic courses and four credits for the  dissertation preparation. Among the basic courses which are required to be  completed within the first year, 13 credits are allocated to degree  courses.

 

Ÿ   Major-related Courses

Advanced Forest Ecology, Sustainable Forest  Operation and Management, Forest Economics, Silviculture, Forest Pest Control,  Monitoring and Evaluation of Forest Resources, Natural Resources and  Environmental Economics, Forest Policy, Forest Management in Human Settlements,  Conservation, Chinese Language and Chinese Society and Culture.

 

At least one academic paper related to the  Master study should be published (or accepted) in an English academic journal  that is publicly available (domestic or international), during the master’s  program.

 

Students who choose to major in Forestry  Economics and Management will be conferred a Master’s Degree in  Management.

- Applicants from developing economies prioritized

- Age18 -  40, holding a valid passport, in good health and have obtained a  Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent degree from an accredited higher education  institute in forestry or related field.

At least 2-year work  experiences are prioritized

-Those who are Chinese citizens previously and are immigrants later  should implement Document  No. 83 in 2009 issued by Ministry  of Education.
