The First Sino-Foreign Basketball Tournament organized by CIE



The first Sino-Foreign Basketball Tournament, organized by the College of International Education, began on October 26th on the main campus. The Graduate College, the First Clinical Medical College, Vocational and Technical College and the College of Pharmacy were invited to participate.


Through mixing of the NBA and CBA formats there are two rounds in this tournament. In the first round, the CIE basketball team will play a friendly match with the four above-mentioned college teams. In the second round, try-outs will be held and through the evaluation of the comprehensive performance, 22 foreign student players will be assigned to various teams. Meanwhile, the CIE team will represent our university in the "Silk Road Cup", shortly after the international basketball tournament. The new format (NBA and CBA formats) ensures exciting games.


This First Sino-Foreign Basketball Tournament proves that CIE is striving for innovative campus activities, which also serve as a platform for Chinese and foreign culture. This new form of competition will attract Chinese and foreign students to participate actively and will offer them a chance for mutual communication and understanding. This basketball tournament will not only enrich the cultural aspect in our university, but will also further promote multicultural blending. 






Prof. Werner Mohl from Vienna University of Medical Sciences Visited LMU




On June 23th, Prof. Werner Mohl visited our university. He had a meeting with Xuezheng Liu, President of LMU. Vice President, Weiguang Ding, Prof. Paul Liang, Dean of the College of International Education and Zhongyi Si, Director of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department of the first affiliated hospital also attended the meeting.


President Liu welcomed Prof. Werner Mohl and expressed his gratitude to the contribution of cooperation that Prof. Mohl has made. President Liu introduced the current development and future development of LMU, especially the affiliated hospitals and international education and exchange. He inquired about the study field of Prof. Mohl and expressed his hope to cooperate with Vienna University of Medical Sciences, especially in the field of strengthening the cooperation between hospital to hospital, becoming familiar with European advanced medical technology and treatment methods. 


Prof. Werner Mohl felt honored to visit our university and expressed his profound gratitude to our university. He said he was deeply impressed by the beautiful campus, the modern hospitals and the high-quality personnel. He introduced concepts of new medical development in Europe, especially the development in the field of cardiovascular surgery and he emphasized on enhancing the cooperation with our university. He also extended an invitation to professors and students of our university to visit Vienna University of Medical Sciences.


Prof. Werner Mohl is a Doctor of Medicine, an internationally renowned medical educator and expert in the field of cardiovascular surgery.


The international cooperation between the two sides has been consolidated further through this visit.





NSFAF Delegation Visited Liaoning Medical University




On May 28th and 29th, Mr. Fillemon Wise Immanue and his group from Namibian Students Financial Assistance Fund (NSFAF) visited our university and Namibian students. President Xuezheng Liu of LMU met the delegation. Professor Paul Liang, dean of College of International Education and Lihong Piao, vice dean of College of International Education also attended the meeting.


President Liu had a cordial talk with the guests. He warm welcomed Mr. Fillemon Wise Immanue and the other delegate, and introduced LMU’s history and the educational situation of international students, especially of Namibian students. He pointed out that LMU insists on international development strategy, focusing on international education and international exchange. He hoped Mr.Wise can know about the international education of LMU further through this visit. LMU will continue to improve the teaching qualities and facilities so that the international students can study and live pleasantly at LMU.


Mr. Fillemon Wise Immanue expressed his profound gratitude to President Liu and conveyed the greetings of Namibian Ambassador Mr. Ringo F. Abed. He also thanked LMU for cultivating, taking care of Namibian students and contribution to the culture exchange between Namibia and China. He introduced the duties and working procedures of NSFAF. He said he would like to connect LMU with the relative Namibian education departments and would fund more excellent Namibian students to study at LMU. He also hoped to develop more international cooperation in other fields and specialties with LMU.


After the meeting, Professor Liang introduced the education of international students, especially the situation of Namibian students to the delegation. He welcomes more Namibian students to study at LMU. The delegation discussed about the teaching, internship, tuition and accommodation fees and enrollment of Namibian students with Professor Liang. Both sides exchanged the opinions of the most concerned questions.


During this visit, the delegation also had a talk with Namibian students. Mr. Fillemon Wise Immanue knew about their study and life at LMU, their feedback of LMU .He told them to grasp the chance and study hard.
