Delegation Visits University of Minnesota for Two Week Training Program


The Mingda Institute for Leadership Training was pleased to welcome 19 administrators from Henan University of Economics and Law this fall. HUEL is located in Henan province, which is in central China and is regarded as the birthplace of Chinese civilization 5,000 years ago. The training delegation arrived in Minnesota on November 13 and enjoyed two busy and fruitful weeks of academic lectures, university visits, and American cultural immersion activities. The third week of the program was spent traveling on the west coast, where the delegation enjoyed visits to Stanford, the University of Southern California, the University of California-Berkeley, and the University of California-Los Angeles. They were even able to partake in traditional American delicacies on Thanksgiving!


he National Committee on U.S. - China Relations' 2016 CHINA Town Hall


On Tuesday, October 18 the University of Minnesota China Center served as a local host for more than 60 guests gathered at Humphrey School of Public Affairs to attend CHINA Town Hall, a project of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations. Guests gathered for a reception, followed by the program, a web cast presentation by Dr. Henry Kissinger, former Secretary of State who played a crucial role in arranging President Nixon's 1972 visit to China, which was moderated by Stephen A. Orlins, President of the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations.

After the web cast local speaker Mark Sidel, Doyle-Bascom Professor of Law and Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison presented a lecture "Civil Society and the State in China: The Role of Foreign and Domestic Groups and the Chinese Government Policies." The lecture provided relevant conversation about Xi Jinping's recent reforms and how those changes have challenged the work of non-governmental organizations and international foundations operating in China and their impact on civil society.


Chinese Delegation From Henan University To Visit ISU April 17


POCATELLO – A delegation from Henan University of Economics and Law in China is coming for a return visit to Idaho State University on April 17.

Representatives from Henan University of Economics and Law visited ISU in 2009 and 2015. ISU’s S. Hossein Mousavinezhad, professor of engineering and liaison for international programs, visited this university in 2013.

This delegation will be visiting to discuss programs in the ISU College of Business and College of Science and Engineering. They will also be visiting various facilities on campus, and, time permitting, businesses and research facilities in Pocatello.
