In the area of international academic exchanges, the University has established and kept good relationships with Kyushu University in Japan, State Institute of Physical Education in Kazakhstan, Western Kentucky University, Belmont University and Utah Valley State College in the USA, and the State University of Kobdo in Mongolia .To promote the international academic communication, the University has also sent teachers abroad for further study and academic research. Every year the University employs foreign teachers and recruits international students for a variety of programs and courses. In 1992, the University was authorized by the State Administration of Foreign Expert Affairs with the Class A qualification to engage the foreign experts and teachers. In 1994, the University was listed by the State Ministry of Education as one of the 200 national universities to accept international students. In 1995, the University was put on the List of International Universities issued by the Association of International University in UNESCO. Xinjiang Normal University lies in the beautiful City of Urumqi, composed of two campuses, located respectively at 102 Xinyi Road and 239 East Kashigar Road, Urumqi, Xinjiang. Since its establishment in December, 1978, the university has stepped into a conventional development track through 30 years ‘of construction and development. It is now the key university in Xinjiang with complete majors and higher teaching levels; it is also an important base for Xinjiang’s teacher training, having cultivated large quantities of professional talents for Xinjiang’s economic prosperity and social development. The university was listed into the international university directory by the International Universities Association of Education, Science & Culture Organization of the UN in 1995. The university publishes the Xinjiang Normal University Journal in Philosophy & Social Science and Natural Science respectively in Chinese and Uygur.
