Pilot Universities-Central University of Finance and Economics

The Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE), which used to be under the governance of the Ministry of Finance and was transferred to the Ministry of Education in February 2000, is a comprehensive university with a main focus on economics and management, and an additional focus on law and Chinese literature. The purpose of the university is to assist in the development of socialism market economy. The main responsibility is to train first-class specialized personnel in management, teaching and research for organizations such as government finance and taxation departments, banking and insurance institutions, corporations, enterprises, colleges, universities and research institutes. 


CUFE started out as the Central Taxation School that was established in November 1949. Since then, the university has undergone several name changes: Central Institute of Finance, Central Institute of Finance and Economics, Central Institute of Finance and Banking, and finally in May 1996, the university was named as the Central University of Finance and Economics. According to the decision made by the Ministry of Finance on October 29, 1998 and the decision made by the Ministry of Education in February 2000, CUFE acquired the Central Institute for Financial Administrators. The main campus is located at 39 South College Road, Haidian District, Beijing , China . It has two other campuses, one in Qinghe , Haidian District and the other in Fushouling , Shijinshan District .
