The school offers beautiful and quiet learning environment for foreign students and organizes various activities to care about the growth and learning of students. It has established International Cooperation and Communication Division and College of International Education and Studies to serve and manage foreign students. In addition, it has set up foreign students incentive and scholarship mechanism. Foreign students can apply for President Scholarship of Tongren University with different amount according to their own situations. At present, there are 41 undergraduate majors for foreign students, who would be recommended to study postgraduate courses in famous domestic universities after graduation with outstanding performance. In the sports meeting and related activities, the performance of foreign students — "Love the School as We Love Our Home" left a good impression to the people of the city. At present, the school is vigorously promoting the plan of "Attracting Foreign Students to Tongren".

Currently the school has 35 undergraduate majors that cover 11 disciplines and form major subjects in forestry, education, science, and engineering. Taking four unique disciplines, namely, Mount Fanjing forestry ecology, Mount Fanjing cultural ecology, efficient utilization and governance of manganese, potassium and mercury, regional higher education and vocational education, as the key support, Tongren University has established a major and discipline cluster system with harmonious development of multiple disciplines, which closely connects with local industrial chain and innovative chain, and serves regional economic and social development comprehensively. It has built National Humanities and Social Sciences Base, Academician Work Station, Postdoctoral Research Station, Guizhou Province 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, provincial key disciplines, unique majors, comprehensive reform pilot, experimental teaching demonstrative center, engineering technical center, unique lab, industryeducation-research base, innovative technical team, totaling over 50 teaching and scientific research innovative platforms. In addition, it has built 28 scientific research institutes, including Mount Fanjing Research Institute, Wuling Culture Research Institute, Higher Education and Vocational Education Research Institute, etc., and built Wujiang College jointly.
