Harbin China Universities

Known as the capital and largest city of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China, as well as the tenth most populated city in the People's Republic of China, Harbin has risen to provide political, economic, scientific, cultural and communications hub in Northeast China. Currently, the city's municipal area boasts 5,878,939 inhabitants, while the total population of the sub-provincial city is 10,635,971. Known for its bitterly cold winters Harbin is often called the "Ice City”, showcasing it’s beautiful ice sculptures in winter and the Russian legacy, and still plays an important part in Sino-Russian trade today. In the1920s, the city was considered China's fashion capital as new designs from Paris and Moscow reached out first before arriving in Shanghai.

1) Harbin Institute of Technology

Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) was founded in 1920 in China. The institution has three campus locations: the Harbin campus in Heilongjiang Province, the Weihai campus in Shandong Province and the Shenzhen graduate school in Guangdong Province. Currently the HIT houses 20 schools and departments offering programs focused on engineering and technology. Founded in 1920, HIT has developed into a large multi-disciplinary nationally renowned university. 84 undergraduate programs, 148 masters' programs, 82 doctoral programs, 18 post-doctoral research stations, 18 national key disciplines, are offered.

2) Harbin Engineering University

Harbin Engineering University (in short HEU, formerly Harbin Military Engineering Institute), founded in 1953, is one of the first key universities providing the first batch of constructed universities in China with graduate school and National University Science Park. Renowned for its finest education, HEU has striven on building the teams of worldwide first-class engineers, industry leaders and scientists, and improving the high level of education, teaching, and personnel qualities.

3) Harbin University of Science and Technology

Harbin University of Science and Technology (HRBUST) is the largest province-owned engineering university in Heilongjiang Province. The university was founded in the early 1950s, providing a variety of sciences and engineering which solely focuses on machinery and electrical power, as well as philosophy, economy, laws, pedagogy, arts, sciences, engineering and management. In 2003, HRBUST was appreciated as an "A Level University" by the State Ministry of Education for its excellent undergraduate education.

4) Harbin Medical University

Harbin Medical University (HMU) provides a landscapist view on the campus flecked with ancient-style buildings, and spanning a total area of 2.36 million square meters.

HMU has clearly defined medical programs. It is among the first group of medical universities running seven-year medical programs and has been working with Nankai University and Harbin Institute of Technology for joint teaching of seven-year program students.
