The 3rd China-Africa Youth League opens in Beijing



To further implement the consensus of the leaders of the Johannesburg Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and greet the Beijing Summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum held in September this year, the third session China-Africa Youth League jointly organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Sichuan Provincial People's Government opened in Beijing on June 21st.

On the same day, Wang Jiarui, Chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, announcing the opening of the third China-Africa Youth Association. 105 outstanding representatives including the youth leaders, heads of youth affairs of the ruling party, and young entrepreneurs from 53 African countries and the African Union of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum entered the Song Qingling Youth Science and Technology Cultural Exchange Center in China and experienced the Chinese cultural projects including Chinese medicine, sewing, printing and dyeing, Peking Opera, ceramics (blue and white porcelain), wood art, calligraphy etc.in groups for nearly 2 hours. 

In the experience part of Chinese medicine, Wan Ruixin, the lecturer of the activity workshop, led the African youth to know the acupuncture points of the human body, traditional Chinese herbal medicines (Ai Ye), traditional weighing tools, to make traditional treatment instruments mugwort stick and experienced moxibustion. "The reason we choose moxibustion as an example is firstly considering that foreign friends are generally interested in acupuncture and massage, the moxibustion method is relatively easy for foreign friends to understand, especially that friends in Africa will also use Ai Ye." Wan Ruixin said. “Today's experience activities are impressive, especially the treatment demonstration part conducted by the teachers of traditional Chinese medicine  . ” Said the South Sudanese Sioux youth cadre, the state finance minister, Garang Majak Bol Angok Right (figure right below), and he hopes to learn to make more traditional Chinese medicine to treat diseases in the future.

It is reported that this China-Africa Youth League has lasted for 8 days and was held in Beijing and Chengdu, Sichuan. During the Beijing period, the China-Africa Youth Roundtable will be held. The Chinese and African youth representatives will also enter the State Council Poverty Alleviation Office, enter the Zhongguancun Software Park, enter the Taoranting Street and Yuetan Street in Xicheng District, to experience Chinese traditional culture and visit historical sites.
